SERVICE AND ENTERTAINMENT
Recently, one of my acts – SoundConnection – performed in Singapore. It was an opportunity to take some personal time and travel nearby to Thailand and Cambodia. The moment I arrived in Siem Reap I was blown away with the service by my hotel, which was the Golden Temple Hotel. I was picked up with a shuttle however one of their front desk employees was also there at the airport to personally escort me back. When we arrived the beautiful semi-outdoor lobby, she sat me down, served a tray of wonderful refreshments and answered any questions I had.
During the five days I was there, every single person working the front desk would greet me by name and not just with a typical corporate smile, but rather a genuine and passionate smile. Their soft and sweet approach made me feel like I was coming home each time I returned to the hotel from my day of exploring the nearby ancient temples. Even the cleaning staff greeted me with true sincerity. The attention to detail and immediate responses were impeccable, whether needing something adjusted in my room to simple questions about the surrounding area. By the time I was ready to leave for my journey home, I felt I had made new friends and would miss them. Honestly, I would return to the Golden Temple Hotel for the service alone! How does this relate to music? Entertainment is the single most important element of your wedding celebration. It drives the emotion, and with its energy and presentation contributes the most to the atmosphere of your party. This is what truly facilitates the great time you and your guests will have. Therefore, the level of service surrounding every aspect from the initial booking process, through the preparation and the evening itself is critical. Are you really satisfied with talent agencies simply emailing a laundry list of entertainment acts and videos, booking a band or DJ, having their leader ask for your 1st dance and then showing up with their copy of the timeline and performing like they do at every other wedding? Find an agency or independent band leader or DJ who will first take the time to get to know you and your fiancé and really listen to what your dream is for the music from the moment your guests arrive the ceremony to the last moment of the night when they leave. It’s not just about getting a band or DJ that is technically great. That’s the easy part. The style and level of service the agency or entertainment contact provides reflects what the totality of your experience will be like. If you can immediately feel a connection with them your guests will feel a meaningful connection during your party.
